"Why don't young people vote?"
This article calls on younger voters to not take advantage of the representation they are given, and to go out a vote. Hanan Esaili talks about the fact that many millennials believe that their vote will not make a difference, or do not care if it makes a difference because they believe politics are not relevant in their life. In reality politics effect everyone, and most everything around us. She also makes an excellent point about the fact that millennials are now moving away from large institutions such as political parties but are rather identified as "independent" when speaking on their political preference. Esaili not only calls upon this generation she calls upon the politicians to start bridging that gap between politicians and voters.
I feel as though I am one of those people who once believed that politics are were not affecting my life in the slightest, even though they were. I also believe that politicians tend to target the older audience rather then focusing more on the issues that millennials care about in attempt to target that more mature voter. I agree with her conclusion that millennials should be voting and making their voice heard. I also agree with her idea that this voter and government relationship is a two way street, yes the younger generation must try harder to vote on these issues, but also the politicians and the government have a responsibility to connect with the voters and bring the issues they are passionate about to light.
